Indonesia and Malaysia strengthen border cooperation in Bandung

Indonesia and Malaysia are conducting the 41st Malaysia-Indonesia Socio-Economic Working Group (Sosek Malindo) meeting in Bandung, West Java, from October 27 to 30, 2026. The bilateral forum aims to transform border regions from mere administrative boundaries into centers for economic growth and community welfare.

Key agenda items include improving regional connectivity, managing cross-border activities, disaster management, and humanitarian services. A primary focus is the optimization of the Temajuk Border Post (PLB) and the Telok Melano Border Control Post (PKS), which connect Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province with Malaysia’s Sarawak state. The two nations are also discussing infrastructure projects for international border safety and a proposed pilot project for Special Border Treatment.
