Indonesia and Netherlands strengthen education and research ties

Indonesia and the Netherlands are strengthening bilateral cooperation in higher education, science, and technology through the Week of Indonesia–Netherlands Education and Research (WINNER) 2026. Held from October 6 to 8, 2026, the event took place across three locations: the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology in Jakarta, Trisakti University in Jakarta, and the Indonesia House in Amsterdam.

Indonesian Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto emphasized the potential to expand collaboration between universities and researchers to address societal challenges. The program includes thematic sessions on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, human capital, and sustainability. The event also serves to showcase collaborative results through DUTEP and announce the winners of the Indonesia-Netherlands Thesis Prize (INS Thesis Prize) 2026.

Arif Satria, Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency, noted that innovation requires synergy between universities, research institutions, government, industry, and society to move knowledge from laboratories into practical technologies and policies.
