Indonesia and Russia strengthen economic ties and industrial cooperation

Indonesian Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto met with Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to strengthen bilateral economic ties. The discussions focused on expanding business partnerships, increasing national industrial capacity, and exploring collaboration in strategic sectors, specifically shipping and aviation.

This meeting follows high-level discussions between President Prabowo Subianto and President Vladimir Putin in September 2026. A key priority is the ratification of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (I-EAEU FTA), which is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 to provide broader market access for Indonesian products.

Trade between the two nations has shown significant growth, reaching US$4.84 billion in 2025, a 21.6 percent increase from US$3.98 billion in 2024. Major commodities driving this trade include palm oil, coffee, cocoa, agricultural products, and fertilizers.
