Taufik Hidayat arrested for three‑year kidnapping and assault of YTR

West Java police detained 30‑year‑old Taufik Hidayat on 23 June 2026 in Majalaya, Bandung, after online‑transaction leads pointed to his whereabouts. He has been placed in a special cell with CCTV monitoring while the investigation proceeds.

Hidayat is accused of kidnapping and repeatedly assaulting his partner, identified only as YTR (29), for nearly three years in a rented room in Cileunyi, Bandung. The victim suffered severe injuries – blindness, facial disfiguration, extensive bruising and loss of valuable belongings. She is now receiving intensive care and reconstructive surgery at Rumah Sakit Hasan Sadikin, with treatment costs covered by local government and social protection from the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment.

Family members expressed relief and demanded a harsh sentence: “Alhamdulillah senang sekali, terima kasih Bapak Kapolda,” YTR said, while DPR member Abdullah called for the maximum penalty, saying the perpetrator “layak mendapat hukuman kebiri.” Former president‑level staff Dudung Abdurachman relayed President Prabowo’s message that the case must be processed “sesuai hukum yang berlaku.”

Authorities have charged Hidayat under Articles 466 and 446 of the Criminal Code. A previously announced Rp 250 million reward for information leading to his capture has been transferred to the victim’s family as a deposit.
