Jambi forest fires cause poor air quality and trigger mask distribution

Forest and land fires (karhutla) in Jambi have led to deteriorating air quality, prompting health interventions for local residents. In Tanjung Jabung Timur, students at SDN 197 Rawasari are wearing masks provided by their school to continue learning amidst the smoke.

In Jambi City, the Korem 042/Garuda Putih military command has distributed approximately 6,000 free masks to citizens at busy intersections. Brigadier General Nyamin, Commander of Korem 042/Garuda Putih, stated that the haze is being carried into urban areas by winds from the south and southeast. Residents are being advised to limit outdoor activities to protect their health while the air quality remains poor.
