Indonesia authorities intercept large shipments of illegal cigarettes
Indonesian authorities have conducted separate operations to intercept large quantities of illegal, untaxed cigarettes.
In Banjarmasin, Customs officials at Trisakti Port seized approximately 3,082,760 machine-made clove cigarettes (SKM) being transported by truck. The estimated value of the seized goods is roughly Rp 4.5 billion, with a potential loss in state revenue of approximately Rp 2.9 billion. The shipment included various brands such as Sabit Melon, Famos, and 54ryaku, all lacking excise stamps.
In a separate action, the Jembrana Police (Polres Jembrana) intercepted 2,093 packs of cigarettes without excise stamps. Following the investigation, the police transferred the case and the suspect, identified by the initial N, to the Denpasar Customs Office for further legal processing under excise laws.
