Indonesia automotive sales reach 594,984 units through August 2026
Indonesia's automotive industry recorded total retail sales of 594,984 units from January to August 2026, according to data from the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO). While this figure remains 255,016 units short of the annual target of 850,000 units, August 2026 saw a significant monthly peak of 83,422 units, representing a 7.7 percent increase from July and a 24.4 percent increase compared to January 2026.
Within the market, the 4x2 segment continues to dominate. PT Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) reported a 9.1 percent year-on-year increase in retail sales, reaching 97,059 units for the same period. Daihatsu maintains a 16.3 percent market share, securing its position as the second-largest retail brand in the country. In August 2026 alone, Daihatsu sold 12,100 units, with the Gran Max series contributing 49 percent of that total, followed by the LCGC series at 31 percent.
