Indonesia Banking Grows Green Financing While AI Fraud Threats Rise
Bank Central Asia (BCA) reported that its sustainable financing portfolio reached IDR 267 trillion by June 2026, a year‑on‑year increase of 11.4 %. Green loans grew 19 % to IDR 123 trillion, with renewable energy financing up 82 % and electric‑vehicle financing up 25 %. BCA Syariah contributed IDR 2.9 trillion, 21.7 % of its total financing, and highlighted a 45 % rise in electric‑vehicle loans.
At the same time, Indonesian financial institutions are confronting adaptive cyber‑crime that exploits artificial‑intelligence systems used for credit decisions, fraud detection and compliance. Dr. Simon Liu of TrustDecision warned that “the biggest shift is fraud becoming faster, more adaptive, and more personalized.” In response, the Financial Services Authority (OJK) issued new AI governance guidelines, emphasizing reliability, accountability and human oversight for banking AI applications.
