Indonesia confirms FIFA ASEAN Cup schedule despite Anak Krakatau eruption

The upcoming 2026 FIFA ASEAN Cup, scheduled to begin on September 25 in Indonesia, is not currently facing postponement despite concerns regarding the eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano. Media outlets in Malaysia and Thailand have raised questions about the safety of players, fans, and aviation due to volcanic ash in the Sunda Strait.

Indonesian authorities have committed to ensuring the tournament proceeds safely. PSSI President Erick Thohir has conducted inspections of various stadiums after reports indicated that volcanic ash had significantly affected the condition of some playing surfaces.

The tournament will feature top-ranked Southeast Asian teams and two guest teams. Group A matches will be held in Jakarta at Gelora Bung Karno Stadium, while Group B matches are set to take place at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung.
