Indonesia corporate bond issuance falls in early 2026 as investors look for opportunities
Domestic uncertainty in Indonesia's financial markets has led to a slowdown in corporate bond issuance during the first half of 2026. According to PT Pemeringkat Efek Indonesia (Pefindo), year‑to‑date issuance reached Rp 87.35 trillion by June, a 3.91% decline from the Rp 90.9 trillion issued in the same period of 2025. The multifinance sector contributed the most, with Rp 12.93 trillion, followed by pulp and paper (Rp 12.84 trillion), parent‑company issuers (Rp 11.87 trillion), banks (Rp 11.69 trillion) and mining companies (Rp 11.58 trillion). While issuance contracts, investors are seeking selective opportunities amid the pressure on the market, reflecting concerns over confidence in Indonesia’s capital markets.
The trend underscores the broader challenges facing the domestic bond market, where reduced supply may influence yields and investment strategies for both local and foreign participants.
