Palm oil markets see Indonesian export growth amid Malaysian stock surges

Indonesia's Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and derivative exports grew by 5.49 percent between January and July 2026 compared to the previous year. Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman emphasized the importance of downstreaming (hilirisasi) to increase domestic value-added and reduce reliance on raw material exports.

In contrast, Malaysian CPO prices saw a decline of 0.66 percent in recent trading, with weekly corrections reaching 1.53 percent. This downward trend is attributed to Malaysian palm oil stocks hitting an eight-month high in August, driven by increased production and softening export demand.

Amid rising global oil prices, the Kadin Indonesia Institute has advocated for a B50 biofuel industrial transformation roadmap. Experts suggest that implementing B50 could displace approximately 18 million kiloliters of imported diesel, potentially saving the country roughly Rp170 trillion in foreign exchange.
