Indonesia Customs expands education drive to curb illegal cigarettes and train students

The Semarang Customs office intensified its outreach in June 2026, partnering with local governments in Semarang, Salatiga, and Demak to educate the public, businesses, officials and tobacco producers about customs duties, how to spot illegal cigarettes and the benefits of tax compliance. The campaign combines preventive education with stronger monitoring of the tobacco industry.

In June 2026, Customs offices in Sidoarjo and Tanjung Emas hosted industry‑visit programmes for secondary‑school students and university accounting and taxation majors. Participants received lessons on customs and tax functions, IMEI registration, fraud avoidance and observed live product‑testing demonstrations, aiming to build future awareness of customs regulations and revenue collection.
