Indonesia customs seize millions of illegal cigarettes in Jepara and Asahan

Customs officials and local authorities conducted a joint raid in Jepara, Central Java, seizing 153 packs of illegal cigarettes, most of them (142 packs) from a single shop in Desa Lebak. The operation involved Bea Cukai Kudus, police, municipal officers, fire services and the military, and included education for merchants on identifying illegal tobacco.

In North Sumatra, the Bea Cukai office in Asahan intercepted a shipment at the Kisaran toll gate, confiscating about 4.02 million cigarettes across 79 cartons of HMIN GRAPE, 141 cartons of HUMER and 50 cartons of LUFFMAN Merah. The seized goods were valued at roughly Rp6 billion, preventing an estimated Rp3.02 billion in state revenue loss.
