Indonesia customs seize over 6 million illegal cigarettes in recent operations
Indonesia’s customs authority carried out multiple joint operations against illegal tobacco. In Lamongan, Gresik Customs, together with local government agencies, seized 3,040 illegal cigarette sticks on 6 July 2026 across four sub‑districts.
In Bogor, customs officers conducted 83 enforcement actions from May to June 2026, confiscating 6,086,713 illegal cigarettes valued at about Rp 9.04 trillion and preventing an estimated loss of Rp 4.54 trillion in tax revenue. Officials highlighted the importance of cooperation with regional police, prosecutors, and the public to curb illicit trade, protect state revenue, and ensure a healthy market for legally produced tobacco.
