Indonesia Deputy Minister discusses Agrarian Reform Law

Ossy Dermawan, Deputy Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Deputy Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), addressed the complexities of implementing agrarian reform during a public discussion hosted by the Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia on October 23, 2026.

Dermawan emphasized that the Agrarian Reform Law was established to resolve systemic issues and provide a comprehensive regulatory framework. The program aims to reduce land ownership inequality, ensure legal certainty, resolve agrarian conflicts, and improve community welfare through both asset redistribution and access facilitation.

According to the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the government has redistributed 6,199,241 land parcels over the last two years. Additionally, 13,226 hectares of State General Reserve Land (TCUN) have been allocated for agrarian reform. As of October 2026, business assistance and empowerment programs have reached 35,500 households.
