Indonesia Deputy Social Minister promotes education and child welfare

Deputy Social Minister Agus Jabo Priyono is calling for increased collaboration to address poverty and child welfare in Indonesia. During a symposium at Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, Priyono urged the Muhammadiyah organization to utilize its extensive network of educational institutions to help reach the approximately 4.1 million school-aged children in Indonesia who are currently out of school or have dropped out.

Additionally, Priyono inaugurated the 'Sae' Taman Anak Sejahtera (TAS) at the Prof. dr. Soeharso Integrated Center in Surakarta. This facility is one of 11 child welfare centers under the Ministry of Social Affairs designed to support vulnerable families. The center provides early childhood education, nutritional support, and health monitoring to assist parents who struggle to provide consistent care while working. Children's developmental milestones at the center are tracked via the 'Si Kumbang' application to ensure timely interventions, such as speech therapy if needed.
