Indonesia Design Week 2026 strengthens creative ties with Italy

Indonesia Design Week (IDW) 2026, held at Pantai Indah Kapuk 2 (PIK2) from September 18 to 27, is fostering stronger creative ties between Indonesia and Italy. The Indonesian Ministry of Creative Economy has curated 15 local intellectual properties (IP) to be showcased during the festival to expand the networking opportunities for domestic creative industry players.

As part of this initiative, the Ministry is also supporting the departure of three young Indonesian designers to the SaloneSatellite exhibition in Milan, Italy. The event features the SaloneSatellite Permanent Collection, which includes selected design works and prototypes from Salone del Mobile Milano.

Michele Cavallaro, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Jakarta, stated that bringing SaloneSatellite to Jakarta aims to create connections between the creative communities of both nations, particularly among the new generation of designers. This collaboration is part of the Italian Design Day program, which has been active since 2017 to promote Italian design through global diplomatic and cultural networks.
