Indonesia digital banking and fintech sectors see growth and strategic shifts

Indonesia's digital banking and fintech sectors are seeing significant growth and strategic shifts. According to Bank Indonesia, digital payment transactions reached 5.50 billion in July 2026, a 28.69 percent increase year-on-year, with QRIS transactions surging by 82.42 percent.

A survey by Ipsos Indonesia reveals that digital banking users prioritize transaction speed, ease of use, and application stability. SeaBank led user perceptions for both transaction speed (67 percent) and application stability (66 percent), followed by Bank Jago.

In the fintech space, DOKU is expanding its cross-border payment capabilities through increased strategic investment from Antom, a division of Ant International. As part of this partnership, DOKU is rebranding to ‘DOKU by Antom’ and has appointed Himelda Renuati as its new CEO. The collaboration aims to leverage global merchant networks and regional providers like 2C2P to facilitate multi-currency transactions and support Indonesian businesses in international expansion.
