Indonesia discusses economic resilience and communication strategies

In Jakarta, discussions regarding Indonesia's economic and communicative resilience have highlighted the need for adaptive governance. At a memorial lecture celebrating the 100th anniversary of legendary technocrat Frans Seda, organized by the Frans Seda Foundation and the Atma Jaya Institute of Public Policy, experts reflected on his ability to stabilize the economy during periods of hyperinflation and high deficits.

Mari Elka Pangestu, Chair of the National Economic Council, noted that Seda's approach to managing massive debt and fiscal discipline remains relevant amid current global supply chain pressures and geopolitical tensions. The event emphasized the importance of integrity and courageous decision-making in navigating modern structural pressures.

Separately, communication experts have called for the Indonesian Government Communication Body (Bakom RI) to transform into a professional, citizen-centric hub. Retno Kusumastuti of REQComm Strategic Consultant suggested that Bakom RI should utilize professional public relations to translate complex technical regulations and economic data into relatable narratives, aiming to reduce public resistance and maintain socio-economic stability through empathetic communication.
