Bonatua Silalahi Files Ethics Complaint Over Jokowi's Diploma at KPU

Public‑policy academic Bonatua Silalahi lodged an ethics complaint with the Election Organisers' Honor Council (DKPP) against the chair of Indonesia's Election Commission (KPU). He alleges the KPU failed to correct two administrative irregularities involving President Joko Widodo’s academic diploma: a copy that was legalized without a date and the missing archive of a wet‑stamped copy that served as a requirement for the Surakarta mayoral candidacy in 2005 and 2010.

The dispute follows a three‑year saga in which the same diploma circulated through media, university, police, courts and the KPU's information commission. Bonatua previously secured a full copy of the diploma through an information request, which the Central Information Commission declared public. He now asks the DKPP to assess whether the KPU’s inaction constitutes an ethical breach under election‑organiser code of conduct.
