Indonesia Election Commission Members Sanctioned Over Helicopter Use

Indonesia's Election Commission (KPU) faced disciplinary action after two members used a helicopter to attend a KPPS inauguration in Cianjur on 25 January 2024. The Election Ethics Board (DKPP) ruled that member Parsadaan Harahap violated the election code of ethics and issued a strong warning, noting the use of an expensive transport mode was unjustified and failed to meet standards of propriety and good governance.

In a related decision, DKPP also barred member Tio Aliansyah from handling cases for 90 days. He may not serve as chair or panel member of any DKPP case and is prohibited from attending plenary decision meetings during the ban. Both sanctions aim to reinforce ethical conduct and institutional integrity within Indonesia's electoral administration.
