Indonesia emphasizes food safety standards in disaster relief and public policy

Indonesian authorities are emphasizing the importance of food safety standards within public policy and disaster management frameworks. At a forum held at the TDMRC USK, BBPOM Aceh leader Muhibuddin stressed that emergency food provided during disasters must meet strict safety, quality, and regulatory requirements to protect public health during distribution.

In a separate policy event in Jakarta, Indonesian Deputy Minister of Defense Donny Ermawan Taufanto participated in the ‘Menenun Kebijakan 2026’ forum organized by BPOM. Taufanto highlighted that public policy should serve as a state instrument to solve societal problems and protect public interests. He advocated for cross-sector collaboration and the development of high-quality human resources to support BPOM’s mission in ensuring the safety of food and medicine consumption.
