Indonesia energy security faces risks from Middle East tensions

Geopolitical tensions in the Middle East pose risks to Indonesia's energy supply and economic stability. Academics warn that rising global oil prices could increase the burden on national fuel subsidies, potentially straining the state budget. If oil prices reach $108 per barrel, the government may face significant fiscal pressure to maintain affordable energy for the public.

In response to these strategic challenges, UIN Kendari held a socialization event focused on national energy security and reserves. The seminar, featuring representatives from the National Energy Council (DEN), PLN, and various industry experts, emphasized the importance of sustainable energy supply, technological shifts like electric vehicles, and improving energy access across different regions of Indonesia.
