Indonesia enhances madrasah education through digital tools and inclusive policies

Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs and Commission VIII of the DPR are implementing initiatives to enhance the quality and inclusivity of madrasah education. Minister of Religious Affairs Nasaruddin Umarm stated that madrasahs are becoming increasingly competitive with other educational institutions through programs like the Garuda Transformation Excellence School.

To support this, the Ministry is investing in infrastructure, including the revitalization of 74 madrasahs in 2025 and the distribution of 2,180 interactive digital boards to 551 institutions. Financial aid remains a priority, with millions of students and university students slated to benefit from the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) and KIP Kuliah programs through 2026.

Simultaneously, Commission VIII of the DPR, in collaboration with UIN Raden Mas Said Surakarta, is pushing for stronger inclusive education to address challenges such as bullying, the integration of artificial intelligence, and the needs of students with disabilities. Legislators are also advocating for increased budget allocations to improve educator welfare by 2027.
