Indonesia EV market grows 97% as Jaecoo J5 leads sales
Indonesia's electric vehicle (EV) market is experiencing rapid growth, with battery electric vehicle (BEV) wholesale distributions reaching 101,171 units between January and August 2026. This represents a 97.6% year-on-year increase compared to the same period in 2025.
In the competitive BEV sector, the Jaecoo J5 emerged as the market leader with 23,359 units distributed. The BYD Atto 1 followed in second place with 19,909 units, while the Geely EX2 secured third place with 9,769 units. Other notable performers include the BYD M6 and BYD Sealion 7.
In related industry developments, the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) The Series 2026 is scheduled to arrive in Semarang, Central Java, from September 30 to October 4 at the Muladi Dome, Diponegoro University. The event aims to tap into the region's significant automotive market and will feature a diverse range of new vehicle brands and technologies.
