Indonesia expands digital social protection pilot to 258 regions
The Indonesian government is expanding the pilot program for digital social protection (Perlinsos Digital) to 258 regencies and cities. This initiative aims to improve the accuracy of social assistance distribution and accelerate delivery processes. A previous pilot phase covered 43 regencies and cities, with over 4.3 million families already registered.
To prepare for a national rollout targeted for October 2026, the Ministry of Communication and Digital is conducting stress and load tests on the digital portal. These tests are designed to ensure the system can handle simultaneous access from approximately 50 million citizens. The Ministry is also collaborating with the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) to guarantee data security and protection.
Deputy Minister of Social Affairs Agus Jabo Priyono emphasized that data readiness is critical to reducing inclusion and exclusion errors during the transition. The digital system is intended to support full-scale social assistance distribution by 2027.
