Indonesia expands educational support through BSI Scholarship and PIP programs
Indonesia is implementing new initiatives to expand educational access for underprivileged students. BSI Maslahat has officially launched the BSI Scholarship 2026, a program designed to provide higher education opportunities for high-achieving children from low-income families across the country.
Since its inception in 2021, the BSI Scholarship has supported 21,153 beneficiaries from school through university levels, collaborating with 190 campus partners. The program aims to utilize social funds to foster social mobility and break the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
In a separate move, the Indonesian government is expanding the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) for the 2026/2027 academic year to include kindergarten (TK) students. Eligible preschool students from poor or vulnerable families can receive an annual aid of Rp450,000 to help cover personal educational costs. To qualify, recipients must be Indonesian citizens, registered in the Dapodik database, and meet specific socio-economic verification criteria.
