Indonesia expands field hospital in NTT following earthquake
The Indonesian Ministry of Health is expanding a field hospital at Golo Dukal Stadium in Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, to support earthquake victims. The facility's capacity is being increased to 100 beds to alleviate pressure on the damaged Ruteng Regional Hospital.
The field hospital includes five specialized tents: four for patient accommodation and one sterile, isolated tent for surgical procedures. This setup allows medical teams to perform urgent surgeries for trauma and fracture cases. Additional disaster response tents are being deployed from Bali to meet the expanded capacity targets.
Local health officials reported that the field hospital was constructed in approximately 30 hours by a 13-person team despite challenging weather conditions. The first surgical operations have already commenced at the site. The Ministry plans to replicate this field hospital model in Nagekeo Regency, where local medical facilities were also impacted by the earthquake.
