Indonesia expands international health cooperation with UK and Egypt
Indonesia is strengthening its global health partnerships through new initiatives with the United Kingdom and Egypt. In Jakarta, the Indonesian Ministry of Health and the UK government launched the UK-Indonesia Health Partnership Platform, known as Tangguh+. This platform serves as a coordination hub for governments, hospitals, universities, research institutions, and industries to align with Indonesia’s health transformation priorities.
The Tangguh+ partnership focuses on three primary areas: health workforce development, technological innovation, and health security. It builds upon a memorandum of understanding signed in May 2025, covering seven sectors including digital health, clinical research, disease control, and a shift toward preventive care.
Separately, Indonesian Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin met with Egyptian Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to discuss technical expertise exchange. Egypt is exploring Indonesia’s experience in health project financing and the pooled procurement of medical equipment to reduce costs and improve resource efficiency. The discussions also covered hospital infrastructure, oncology services, and potential joint efforts to support health systems across African countries through international financing mechanisms.
