Indonesia expands trade and investment ties with Thailand and the U.S
Indonesia is actively pursuing expanded trade and investment partnerships with both Thailand and the United States.
In Jakarta, Bangkok Bank and Permata Bank launched a business matching program to connect Thai and Indonesian entrepreneurs. The initiative aims to strengthen regional supply chains and support the goal of increasing bilateral trade from US$19.5 billion in 2025 to US$23 billion by 2030. Key sectors for cooperation include food security, halal value chains, green energy, the digital economy, and electric vehicle ecosystems.
Separately, Indonesian Trade Minister Budi Santoso met with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce during the G20 Trade Ministers' Meeting in Wisconsin. The discussions focused on deepening business ties through downstream industries, renewable energy, and the development of rare earth metals. The meeting also addressed the implementation of the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) and potential cooperation in digital payments for Indonesian MSMEs.
