Indonesia expands micro‑enterprise financing to remote regions and migrant workers
The Ministry of UMKM reported that by 12 July 2026 the Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR) program had disbursed Rp159.8 trillion, reaching 54.2 % of its Rp295 trillion target and serving about 2.5 million borrowers. New entrants totalled 1.1 million, representing 83.5 % of the year’s goal, while 511,208 borrowers graduated to a higher financing tier.
PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), in partnership with Danantara Indonesia, has extended its network to 4,035 service units, of which 516 are located in the most remote “3T” (Tertinggal, Terdepan, Terluar) areas. The collaboration aims to provide ultra‑micro entrepreneurs, especially women, with credit, business training, and financial literacy, reaching over 23 million customers nationwide. Studies show beneficiaries’ monthly income rose by roughly Rp876 thousand and household consumption increased by Rp7.13 trillion.
Separately, the Tegal City DPRD delegation visited the Jakarta branch of Bank Jateng to discuss improving KUR access for Tegal migrants operating small businesses in the capital, seeking better coordination and streamlined financing for this mobile workforce.
