Indonesia expands UMKM training to spur digital sales and modern retail entry
Hundreds of micro, small and medium enterprises (UMKM) from Jakarta and surrounding areas attended the Gen Matic digital training at the Jakarta Creative Hub on 29 June. The program, organized by Shopee Indonesia in partnership with the Ministry of Creative Economy, covered platform marketing tools, advertising features, legal compliance and product standardisation. Ministry Digital Content Director Yuana Rochma Astuti and Shopee Deputy Director of Government Relations Balques Manisang said the aim is to boost digital competence and business growth.
In Jepara, Central Java, a separate workshop on 30 June focused on product curation for food‑sector UMKM. Led by Laila Witiarso Utomo of the regional crafts council, the training evaluated quality, safety, packaging, legality and production capacity, with successful participants gaining entry to modern retail chains such as minimarkets and supermarkets. Both initiatives aim to enhance the competitiveness and market reach of Indonesian small businesses.
