Indonesia expects three‑million air passengers and a rail ridership surge for Idul Adha long weekend
PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports) projects that 37 Indonesian airports will handle around three million air passengers during the long‑weekend period that includes Idul Adha and the national holiday for the Birth of Pancasila, from 26 May to 2 June 2026. The busiest days are forecast at about 412,000 passengers on 26 May and 423,000 on 1 June, each with roughly 3,000 flights. The airport operator says it has prepared slot schedules, parking, and staff to ensure safe and smooth operations.
Meanwhile, KAI Daop 6 in Yogyakarta reports a sharp increase in long‑distance rail travellers ahead of the same holidays. By 26 May, 43,490 passengers had arrived or departed, with departures up 75 % and arrivals up 50 % compared with the previous day. The railway expects the peak outbound flow on 1 June, when about 23,657 passengers are forecast to leave the region.
