Indonesia exports grow 4.74 percent through August 2026
Indonesia's export value reached $193.64 billion from January to August 2026, representing a 4.74 percent increase compared to the same period the previous year. The manufacturing industry served as the primary driver, contributing $159.55 billion, or 82.40 percent, of the total national export value.
Trade Minister Budi Santoso attributed this growth to three priority programs implemented by the Ministry of Trade: Domestic Market Protection, Export Market Expansion, and ‘From Local to Global’. Under the domestic protection initiative, the ministry collaborated with retail associations to encourage local product consumption, resulting in transaction values of Rp259.3 trillion between January and October 2026.
Additionally, the ministry provided assistance to 6,383 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to help them supply modern retail networks and distributed 4,100 free barcodes to enhance the competitiveness of local products.
