Indonesia faces calls to reconsider Board of Peace involvement

Francesca Albanese, the United Nations special rapporteur for human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories, has urged Indonesia to reconsider its participation in the Board of Peace (BoP). The BoP, established by US President Donald Trump, is intended to oversee the interim governance of Gaza.

Albanese expressed concern that the board risks normalizing a peace mechanism that lacks adequate representation for the Palestinian people. She specifically noted the absence of Palestinian representatives within the board's primary structure. While BoP officials state that Palestinian leadership remains central through the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG), Albanese argued that the appointment of certain bureaucrats does not ensure meaningful representation.

In a separate development, the Aqsa Working Group (AWG) in Jakarta has announced the continuation of the Palestine Solidarity Month (BSP). Led by Yusuf Maulana, the initiative aims to maintain consistent Indonesian support for the Palestinian struggle through organized and sustainable movements. The AWG intends for the November campaign to serve as an international platform to unify global advocacy and attention toward Palestinian independence and the protection of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
