Indonesia Festival in Chiba draws 15,000 visitors

The inaugural Indonesia Festival in Chiba, Japan, drew nearly 15,000 visitors over two days at Chiba City Chuo Park, significantly exceeding the organizers' initial projection of 5,000 attendees.

Organized by Maha-job.com, the event served as a cultural bridge between Indonesia and Japan by featuring performances from both nations on a single stage. Traditional Indonesian arts, such as Reog Ponorogo, were presented alongside Japanese traditions including Taiko drumming and Yosakoi dancing. The festival utilized an interactive concept, allowing visitors to participate directly in cultural activities.

Mahmudi Fukumoto, CEO of the MFI Association, stated that the event aims to strengthen friendship through art and culture. The festival also provided a gathering space for the Indonesian diaspora and migrant workers in Japan. The Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of the Indonesian community in the bilateral relationship between the two countries.
