Indonesia Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa says tax revenue up 24% with no rate hikes

Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced that Indonesia's tax revenue grew about 24% year‑on‑year, reversing a negative growth in 2025. The increase was reported after a presidential briefing with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, and the ministry said the national collection had reached roughly Rp1,035.7 trillion by the end of June 2026.

The government will not raise tax rates to meet its 2026 revenue target. Instead it will tighten oversight, close loopholes, expand the tax base and intensify collection efforts, aiming for more than half of the Directorate General of Taxes' regional offices to meet their targets. The ministry also plans to act on community reports of non‑compliant companies and rejected proposals to involve village security personnel in tax collection.
