Indonesia: Five university majors face highest unemployment

A report by the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia (LPEM FEB UI), has identified five undergraduate majors with the highest unemployment rates. Based on data from the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) for August 2025, the fields with the largest proportions of unemployed graduates are Management, Law, Economics, Education, and Accounting.

Management accounts for the highest proportion at 10.3 percent. While the field offers diverse career paths in marketing, human resources, and finance, the high volume of graduates leads to intense job competition. Law follows at 9 percent, while Economics represents 8.7 percent of the unemployed graduate demographic.
