Indonesia focuses on investment streamlining and halal industry expansion

Indonesia's Ministry of Investment/BKPM is working to improve the investment climate by simplifying licensing, increasing legal certainty, and addressing investment bottlenecks. Minister Rosan Roeslani stated that the next stage of downstreaming will expand beyond minerals into digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing.

Separately, the halal industry in Indonesia is expanding beyond traditional trade into lifestyle, education, fashion, and fintech. During the opening of the Indonesia Halal Week and EduNation Festival 2026, industry leaders noted that the Muslim market has transitioned from a niche segment to a mainstream driver of global tourism and various economic sectors, including cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
