Indonesia gaming industry projected to reach US$3.3 billion by 2030

A joint report by Tencent and Access Partnership projects that Indonesia’s video game industry could contribute up to US$3.3 billion in economic value and support approximately 476,600 jobs by 2030 under an accelerated growth scenario. By the end of 2025, the industry is estimated to generate US$1.3 billion in revenue, representing 0.12 percent of the country’s GDP.

Currently, the domestic market is dominated by hardware and peripherals at 47 percent, followed by esports at 24 percent and retail at 22 percent. Game development and publishing account for only 7 percent of the total economic contribution, indicating a limited role for locally developed content.

To foster a creative production ecosystem, the report suggests expanding financing for local studios through grants and low-interest loans, and streamlining the registration and monetization of local intellectual property. Tencent is already engaging in talent incubation, having supported programs that produced 240 game prototypes from thousands of participants, providing winners with opportunities to present to investors and publishers.
