Indonesia Hajj services see high satisfaction in Lombok as BSI tackles waiting lists
Indonesia is addressing the logistical and financial challenges of the Hajj pilgrimage. According to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics regarding the 2026 Hajj service satisfaction index, the Lombok embarkation (LOP) achieved the highest satisfaction rating at 87.80. Other high-performing embarkations include Yogyakarta (YIA) at 87.18, Palembang (PLM) at 86.65, and Medan (KNO) at 85.24.
To manage the significant increase in waiting times—which currently reach 26 to 29 years for regular Hajj and approximately 9 years for special Hajj—Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has partnered with hundreds of Special Hajj Organizers (PIHK). This initiative aims to provide integrated Sharia-based services, covering financial planning, registration, and departure preparations. BSI currently holds a dominant market position, managing approximately 83 percent of regular Hajj deposits and 35.40 percent of the special Hajj segment in Indonesia.
