Indonesia Immigration Posts 6.4% Rise in Visa Revenue as Digital Reform Takes Hold
The Directorate General of Immigration in Indonesia reported that non‑tax state revenue (PNBP) from visa services reached roughly Rp 2.815 trillion in the first half of 2026, a 6.42 % increase over the same period a year earlier. Despite this revenue growth, the total number of visas issued fell 6.77 % to 3.924 million, driven by an 87.9 % drop in Visa‑Free Visit (BVK) issuances. Visa on Arrival remained the most common type with 3.481 million documents, followed by C1 visit visas (113 k) and C20 visas for equipment installation (84 k). Australia was the top source of foreign tourists (848,802 visits), followed by China, India, South Korea and the United States. The agency highlighted its shift toward digital transformation and a “selective policy” aimed at improving service quality and security.
Immigration also recorded 10,911 administrative actions, including 3,260 cancellations or deportations, and processed legal cases against 23 foreign nationals. Additional enforcement measures prevented 401 Indonesian citizens and 36 foreigners from leaving the country, placed 2,102 foreigners on a blacklist, and delayed 1,704 risky departures. Domestic passport issuance totaled 1.674 million, with 9,017 applications rejected, while 23,082 limited‑stay permits and 3,330 permanent‑stay permits were granted. The director signaled continued effort to strengthen the immigration ecosystem in the second half of the year.
