Indonesia import taxes for iPhone 18 series purchased abroad
Indonesian consumers purchasing new iPhone models, such as the iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max, and iPhone Duo, abroad must account for import duties and Value Added Tax (VAT) when bringing them into Indonesia. The Directorate General of Customs and Excise provides a USD 500 exemption per person for personal belongings upon arrival.
For an iPhone 18 Pro 1 TB priced at USD 1,799, the taxable value after the exemption is USD 1,299. Based on a tax exchange rate of Rp17,500, the total import duties and VAT are estimated to be approximately Rp5.02 million. For an iPhone 18 Pro Max 1 TB priced at USD 1,899, the total estimated tax reaches approximately Rp5.41 million.
To ensure mobile network connectivity, travelers must register the device's IMEI at Customs Service Posts located in international airport arrival terminals. The process requires completing a Customs Declaration via the All Indonesia website and presenting a QR code, passport, and original boarding pass.
