The Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) project in Piyungan, Bantul, is scheduled for groundbreaking in December 2026. The project, located on approximately 5.7 hectares near the former Piyungan integrated waste site, involves an estimated investment of Rp2.5 trillion to Rp3 trillion.
Fadli Rahman, Director of Investment at Danantara and CEO of PT Daya Energi Bersih Nusantara, stated that preparations including land maturation will take place throughout the third and fourth quarters of 2026. Construction is expected to run from January 2027 through the end of 2028.
The project is projected to create between 800 and 1,000 jobs during the construction phase, with priority given to local workers. Once operational, the facility aims to process 1,000 tons of waste per day to generate electricity for the Yogyakarta agglomeration area.
