Indonesia integrates Batam fish export certification, cutting processing time to minutes

Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) and the Batam Free Trade Zone Authority (BP Batam) signed a cooperation agreement on 23 July to link the ministry’s online seafood certification platform with BP Batam’s IBOSS licensing system. The integration allows the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality and Safety Certificate (SMKHP) to be issued within 10‑15 minutes after BP Batam uploads the required quality‑assurance document, streamlining export procedures for the Batam free‑trade zone.

Ishartini, head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Inspection Agency, said the pact “will support greater ease of doing business in Batam” and eliminate duplicate certification steps. Export values have risen from Rp203.4 billion in 2024 to Rp226.7 billion in 2025, with shipments reaching 8,858 tons in 2025 and continuing growth in 2026. The new system is expected to boost the competitiveness of Batam’s seafood exports and contribute to the national economy.
