Indonesia Investment Generates 1.45 Million Jobs, Textile Sector Adds 9 k

Indonesia’s investment activity in the first half of 2026 created about 1.45 million direct jobs, a 15 % increase over the same period a year earlier, according to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto. He said, "Jumlah tenaga kerja yang terserap di semester I/2026 sebesar 1,45 juta tenaga kerja langsung. Dibandingkan tahun lalu, ini naik 15 %." The surge helped lower the open‑unemployment count to 7.22 million (4.65 %).

Six textile and apparel companies announced projects that together could generate roughly 9,000–9,800 new positions. PT Xinhai Knitting Indonesia is expected to employ about 6,000 workers in Brebes, while an integrated textile park in Subang involving PT Binkova Textiles Indonesia, PT Dafei Textile Indonesia and PT Serendipity Fashion Indonesia may add 3,000–3,800 jobs. PT FHG Tekstil Indonesia has already hired around 600 locals.
