Indonesia KPK expands anti-corruption raids on regional officials and auditors

Indonesia’s Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has intensified its operation‑tangkap‑tangan (OTT) raids, targeting regional heads and auditors. In a recent briefing, Home Minister Tito Karnavian said the ministry cannot monitor regional leaders 24‑hours a day and announced a new Monitoring Center for Prevention with the Attorney General’s Office and KPK to oversee anti‑corruption efforts.

The KPK’s latest actions include the arrest of Muara Enim regent Edison and several officials suspected of bribery related to procurement and audit conditioning. Additional raids captured five auditors from the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), among them former BPK South Sumatra chief Titin Rita Lestari, and a search was conducted at the home of former BPK member Bobby Adhityo Rizaldi. The crackdown follows earlier OTTs that detained ten suspects in Jakarta and Sumatra Selatan, highlighting a broader push against corruption at regional and national levels.
