Indonesia launches initiatives to expand creative economy and global market access

The Indonesian government has launched several strategic initiatives to bolster the national creative economy and expand the global reach of local products. The Ministry of Creative Economy introduced the ‘Creative by Indonesia’ program, designed to leverage the nation's diverse cultural heritage—including history, music, and traditional arts—as economic assets for global promotion.

A significant component of this expansion is the launch of the Indonesia–India Creative-Tech Corridor. This partnership aims to connect Indonesian creative talent with Indian technological expertise, specifically focusing on audiovisual production and digital connectivity. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto noted that artificial intelligence (AI) will serve as a driver for this knowledge-based economy, creating new jobs and skills rather than merely replacing existing ones.

To support these efforts, the Ministry of Trade is utilizing its network of trade attachés and promotion centers across 33 countries to facilitate market access. Additionally, local efforts are being implemented through regional workshops, such as those in Mojokerto, to help small and medium enterprises improve brand recognition and competitiveness in the fashion industry.
