Indonesia launches integrated TB control pilots in Bogor and Lampung

Indonesia’s Ministry of Health has selected Bogor City in West Java as a national pilot for an integrated tuberculosis (TB) control model. Deputy Minister Benjamin Paulus Octavianus highlighted Bogor’s achievement of designating all 68 urban villages as TB Alert Villages and the launch of an Active Case Finding program linked to the SMART Free Health Check (CKG), which offers home‑based screening, chest X‑rays and sputum tests. The city’s TB detection rate reached 71.9% of the national target, and officials plan to trace 23,200 high‑risk residents between August and November 2026.

Bandarlampung in Lampung province has also been named a pilot project for accelerated TB elimination by the central government. The city will actively screen about 20,000 family members of TB patients, aiming to close the gap between estimated (5,868) and detected (882) cases. With 31 health centres and 51 auxiliary centres, the programme emphasizes contact tracing, early diagnosis, and six‑month treatment adherence to break transmission chains.
