Indonesia launches maritime cybersecurity playbook with UK support
The Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, has launched the Indonesia Maritime Transportation Cybersecurity Playbook. Developed in collaboration with the British Embassy in Jakarta and cybersecurity experts from the University of Plymouth, the strategic guide aims to address cyber threats targeting national maritime logistics and transportation routes.
During the launch, officials conducted a Table-top Exercise to simulate real-time hacking incidents. This simulation was designed to test communication speed and decision-making effectiveness during cyberattacks on ports or vessels, helping to map security gaps and clarify the roles of various agencies during emergencies. Officials noted that maritime cyber threats pose risks to navigation, logistics chains, and the national economy.
